Listen to your heart

"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.  Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.  And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."           Steve Jobs

“Listen to your heart.”  “Trust your heart.” “Follow your heart.”  “Your heart knows.” These simple statements, known throughout the world as “common sayings”, encourage a direction now been proven to be both wise and scientifically true.  In recent years it has been discovered that the “heart” has a “brain” and this brain has an intuitive knowledge that can be accessed for greater health and well being.

“A measurable electrical field surrounds every person.  It is a combination of the electromagnetic fields generated by the heart, the brain and other electrical systems in your body.  The heart’s electromagnetic field is by far the most powerful.  The heart’s electrical field has forty to sixty times more amplitude than that of the brain while the heart’s magnetic field is approximately five thousand times stronger than that of the brain.” (McCraty, 2004)

For over thirty years I’ve had the honor of facilitating Insight seminars, witnessing tens of thousands of people open their hearts and discover simple and powerful ways to improve their relationships, ignite creativity, increase their health, wealth and happiness and dramatically improve the quality of their life.  Through this process we have built a global community of heart, people who have learned that our hearts hold the key to greater fulfillment and connection.

But…how do you trust your heart?  There are so many influences in today’s world leading us to believe that having more and doing more is the only way to achieve success.

The foundation of Insight is the principle of natural knowing.  Learning to relax and trust your heart may be an important life choice and it can be great fun as well!

Spring, the birth of new ideas

What a beautiful week it has been! We’re really grateful for these wonderful times! Spring is in full swing!

Spring is after winter; it is the season of flowers, of birds singing in the early morning, the fresh scent of flowers everywhere, of longer and warmer days. Spring is rebirth. The rebirth of ideas, the rebirth of thoughts, the rebirth of physical being. Spring is a new beginning. It is the time to let go of what hasn’t worked. It is the time to get rid of the habits that don’t serve you well. It is time to give new habits a chance. This is when the biological new year begins. Spring is where new beginnings start. Surrounded by beauty and warmth, Spring comes and sweeps us off our feet, along with anything held deep in the body. It is time to start this great new year.

With Spring also comes Spring cleaning. It is the time to realise what may not working. To scan the different elements in your life…

Where are you on a scale from 1 to 10 for each of the following? Jot down a number quickly for each.

Your personal life

Your professional life

Your physical fitness

Your social life

Your spiritual life

Where do you want to be? Jot down another number for each. Why aren’t you there?

A wise man once said, “For something to change, you’ve got to change.”

To be where you want to be, what have you got to change? Is it to wake up earlier so that you have more time for yourself, is it to let go of too many commitments, is it to set a new level of focus? Write down three ideas right now in less than a minute. The less time we have to write it down, the more clear and simple statements we get.

Now think about how those ideas can get you from the initial number you have to where you want to be.

If you are an Insight Graduate remember there is a free workshop for your on 7th May. To register and for more info, click here.

Happy Spring,

"Insight was a great adventure - exciting, refreshing, exhilarating, never dull, fascinating, more challenge than any expedition I've ever done and it made a permanent change to the level I live my life at in every sphere." - JP, Adventure Tour leader

Brian Howell, Psychologist

"Insight is the best course I have ever been on - and the most powerful. I'm on psychologist, a bit of a sceptic, and I'd been on loads of courses. So, when someone told me about Insight I, I thought 'there can't be anything new in it.' Eventually I did go - I was amazed! Not only did I love it, it was new, and I came out so much happier and 'more me'. Definitely recommended. " - B H, Psychologist

Year in Reflection: Think about you

Years ago at Christmas, I remember how my best friend decided to leave her long-term partner. She called me from the cold night of the 24th of December, seating on the street with her only suitcase, not knowing where to go. Her parents died many years ago and at the age of 27, she decided to take the risk and get her life in her hands by leaving the abusive relationship she was in. Her only family of the last ten years was her partner and he masked his love through control and manipulation. She was terrified for years, knowing she had no one else to turn to, and that Christmas Eve, she became brave enough to take action and change her life.

She said "I will live my life on my own terms, the way that I want. I will live my life to the fullest. No matter if I need to spend Christmas night on the street with my suitcase. I have my freedom and I trust that my heart will lead me to my happiness." Now, she is living her own life the way she wants, trusting her choices.

With this story, I would like to wish you to live 2015 to the fullest, to face your own bravery and to create your best year yet.

Take the time this January to think about you: evaluate how you grew from your experiences in the past year. How many new inspiring encounters have you had with new and old friends, and how many beautiful moments took your breath away? How many times have you stopped on your way somewhere to listen to a beautiful song of a street musician or of birds chirping? How often have you shared your deep appreciation for your partner, family, or friends, and gratitude for the precious moments spent with them? How many people have you shared your happiness to help them feel happier and to follow their hearts?

If you had a dream version of yourself in a year from now, what would you be doing, what would you be grateful for, who would be the people surrounding you?

Now, imagine if this version of your dream self could be truly realised. Imagine that there are more moments of appreciation, love, joy, laughter, shared genuinely, consistently. Many call this happiness. We call it Insight.

Wishing you joyful holidays!

Hacking Happiness Summit London

We had the wonderful privilege of attending the Hacking Happiness summit in London on 14 November, 2014. With speakers ranging from young entrepreneurs, to a Buddhist monk, with organic food and coconut water, this event represents the up-and-coming generation considering the intersection between business and happiness/mindfulness.

Presenter at Hacking HappinessWe are entering the age of happiness, where the gross national product is only a part of the equation of a good life, good politics, and well being. All of the entrepreneurs that spoke had the same message - take care of yourself, believe in your ideas, and go and make the world a better place the way you want to see it. It was very inspiring to meet many young people with large ideas, believing in change, many of them already actively pursuing them, while realizing how important it is to remain happy.

Terrence Mauri at Hacking Happiness
Terrence Mauri at Hacking Happiness - we have about 900 months to live

One of the speakers, Terrence Mauri, gave us a great reminder about our limited time on this earth. If the average person lives 78 years, then we have on average 936 months to live. His message was very clear - we don't have a lot of time so we might as well make the best we can with the time we do have. He was very specific to pinpoint us that we need to really believe in our dreams, in our mission and act on them now. In other words, there is no time to work the mediocre job, there is no time to listen to your parents to tell you that you are well off with a stable income, there is no time to listen to your friends or partner, because by the time we listen to all of them, we will not have any left to listen to ourselves, our hearts, our deepest desires, our drive, our flow, our mission.

Another speaker's carefully constructed keynote highlighted that we are all in this together. This life, this planet. So, a happier person that follows his or her dreams emanates with energy, elevating the ambience and surrounding mood.

A third speaker, an entrepreneur, talked about his mooshi toys idea that sold very well, but he became so overwhelmed and exhausted with working non stop that he decided his next project will be a website called calm.com, developing apps that help us stop and reflect during our daily routines.

Create Meaning at Hacking Happiness ConferenceThe crowd was mostly young, diverse, yet there were a lot of business veterans, with a strong spirit, and even stronger belief that everyone deserves to be happy.

We held a satellite event for the Hacking Happiness Summit - workshop called Unlock Your Creativity, led by Ruth Grodek, since our mission is in alignment with The Summit. The event served as an intro to our full seminar, exploring what we really want though breakaway exercises.

In the Age of Happiness and Mindfulness, we are very excited about the future.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
